— ANTIQUES, ART and HOUSEHOLD GOODS —

Paintings, sculpture, prints, fine furniture or antiques all sell well at auction.  Often buyers come to an auction in hopes of purchasing something unique from an estate.  They are able to shop and learn the market and observe what dealers are willing to pay at the auction events.  Newlyweds, who are furnishing a home for the first time, often are able to buy better quality art and furnishings stretching their budgets at an auction.

Sellers know that with a large crowd bidding at an auction, the event will yield them fair market value.  Knowledgeable sellers expect that an individual piece may sell low or high, but know that, on the whole, they will obtain fair market value and a substantial amount of cash proceeds in a timely manner.

In one situation, a family with 6 children who was moving to a condominium after 40 years in the same home,  had an auction.  All children had picked up what they wanted and the remaining antiques and furniture brought enough to allow the selling parents to go to Europe on a trip they had never been willing to spend their money on over the years even though they had wanted to go.

When a nice collection of art antiques and household goods is offered at auction and the real estate is also offered, sellers have a winning combination. Quite often someone comes to buy an art piece or a desk or chair and then falls in love with the real estate and also buys it.
